Help us anchor hope for seafarers this Giving Tuesday - your gift matters

This Giving Tuesday, December 3, help us support the 1.89 million seafarers worldwide who face dangerous and isolating conditions as they keep the global economy running. The Mission to Seafarers Southern Ontario serves as a vital lifeline to seafarers arriving at our ports in Hamilton, Toronto, Oshawa, and Port Colborne, providing essential services and support to these often unseen, hardworking men and women.

Why Your Donation Matters

Seafarers spend months at sea, away from their families, often facing physical and mental health challenges, isolation, and financial stress. Despite their critical role in ensuring the goods we rely on every day make it to shore, they are frequently under-recognized and unsupported.

Your donation helps to provide:

  • Emergency Assistance: Supporting seafarers during crises, from medical emergencies to financial hardships.

  • Mental and Physical Health: Offering access to healthcare and mental health support, addressing the pressures of long voyages and isolation.

  • Connection to Home: Facilitating communication with loved ones, ensuring seafarers stay connected despite being miles away.

  • A Welcoming Space: Providing a safe, friendly place for seafarers to rest, recharge, and find community during their brief time ashore.

How We Support Seafarers

The Mission to Seafarers Southern Ontario is part of a global network of over 200 Missions, serving seafarers in more than 50 countries. Our team of dedicated volunteers and chaplains offers guidance, companionship, and practical assistance to seafarers in need, often in moments of crisis. From basic needs like toiletries and phone cards to emotional support and crisis intervention, your donation ensures we can continue this vital work.
